Sonoma County may be known for its wine and beer, but the same devotion to craft brewing applies to coffee. Here are some of our favorite coffee shops in the area, from longtime local institutions to newer spots worth seeking out.
Santa Rosa
A’Roma Roasters
The brick-walled coffee shop in Railroad Square draws college students and artsy locals who come for the coffee and often stay late for live music. Choose from a selection of fresh roasts, including the signature Iced A’Roma coffee with vanilla, or try a silky cappuccino with a coconut macaroon.
95 Fifth St., Santa Rosa, 707-576-7765, aromaroasters.com
Blue Bottle Coffee
The Santa Rosa outpost of the Oakland-based coffee company emphasizes single-origin beans and carefully calibrated brewing methods over heavily flavored drinks.

Brew
There’s more to Brew than a regular cup of coffee. With rotating herbal-inspired lattes, craft beer and an open, welcoming atmosphere, it’s a good place to spend a sunny afternoon on the patio, whether you’re reading or, as we sometimes do, conducting an interview.
